I would suggest you study up on Lincoln Cent varieties errors Cuds etc. The fair market value of a clashed dies Cent similar to the one your interested in is around 4 (four) bucks. Scarce would be to strong a word to describe these, I would say their only frequently infrequently found. Yes there are die clashed cents worth a premium but value depends on strength of clash and overall rarity most may trade for 4-5 bucks as a courtesy between collectors. The fact you considerd paying 40 bucks for it hints to me perhaps its time to study up on your interests.
