Hi, I'm very interested in buying a coin from an ebay user and he was asking for $400 for this coin but I couldn't find any 90 Die Clash's except one that sold for only $33 at auction.
So I made a counteroffer of in total w/shipping $40. He's countered that to $100.
My question is if anyone might know an estimate of this coin's worth? So I can back out of a bad deal here or make the sale at his $100 asking price. Thank you all for your help.

In my opinion, your $40 offer was far more than fair. My profile picture is of a similar one from 1986 and those examples have sold for around $30 before. Don't be scammed by a high original price then lower offer. An extremely similar example on ebay sold Jun 04 on a 1975 D for $10.

Definitely not worth the original price or the counteroffer price. Don't buy it. You might as well look for other Die Clashes that are way lower in price.

to the forum! Any reason why you were looking at a 90P? Just looking for any clashed coins?

I think you have to have 50 posts before you can message on here. When you get there, send me your address and I'll send you these if you would like them. I stated in a post the other day that I need to start getting rid of some coins. Just took quick pics in the 2x2, so they look a little better in hand.

I would suggest you study up on Lincoln Cent varieties errors Cuds etc. The fair market value of a clashed dies Cent similar to the one your interested in is around 4 (four) bucks. Scarce would be to strong a word to describe these, I would say their only frequently infrequently found. Yes there are die clashed cents worth a premium but value depends on strength of clash and overall rarity most may trade for 4-5 bucks as a courtesy between collectors. The fact you considerd paying 40 bucks for it hints to me perhaps its time to study up on your interests. Check out coppercoins.com varietyvista doubleddie.com cudsoncoins.com and the extensive writings of Dr. James Wilde. I love errors also so good luck on this fascinating part of collecting. In my hunting through bank boxes of cents I average a nice "prison cent" every 3-4 boxes with many more that are clashed but not keeper worthy.
