Can anyone give me some info on this color? I also have dimes & nickles like this, I just used water to wash off the dirt.

That looks like uneven surface staining to me. Could be any sort of chemical or environmental exposure over the past 35 years.

Environmental staining can come in any color.

In general speaking the UV will made the Nickel become bluish. Others factors also. I will try acetone first and then very warm water.

Did did the accatone and ,water stayed the same
