Weird-Thaler-Hybrid?
This is a close-up of the edge of a Maria Theresa Taler I bought the other day. It was listed as a fake made of two halves and I only paid £7.50 for it but my metal detector told me it was real. It's made of the heads of one Taler and the tails of another, ground down and soldered together. They're from different mints (different diameters!) and vestiges of an edge inscription are JUST visible on one half. I'm wondering why anyone would do this to two coins. Boredom? Needed silver filings? Madly in love? Any ideas anyone?

Here's a picture I took this morning of said Thaler. The one I did yesterday was a bit too big... it's a learning curve!

That should've gone into "reply to topic" but either my brain is failing or I got up too early...

@spy, no problem with accidentally starting a second thread for this coin. I've merged the two of them and will move this over to the world coin subforum so that we get some good eyes on it.

@Spyro
There are an infinitesimal amount of ways people come up with to do harm to coins, only limited by the "Imagination"
