Hi everyone new to the forum after being on Reddit coin groups for a bit. My question is this, I sent a coin in to get graded by NGC expecting to receive some identification back with it. Instead they sent it with James Roberts "The Silver Coins of France" reference to it, which if anyone is keeping track of currently sells for nearly $300 if you can find it. So it says 875-887 France Denier Bourges Roberts-1564. Can someone give me what info they can about the coin and which Carolingian it would fall under? Thank you!

Well, you did: "Roberts 1564." Does NGC normally offer history lessons when it returns a coin? Look here: https://www.ngccoin.com/variety-plu...nce-to-1600/

It's this immobilisation in the name of Charles the Bald from Bourges. 875-887 are the dates. https://www.cgbfr.com/aquitaine-bou...96443,a.html

The Carolingian section in Numista is pretty good, and free!
