This came out of a roll I had.
What happened to the plating?
I assume since we can't see copper that we are looking at Zinc?

Was it from a BU roll? Also, you should never hold coins with your bare fingers. Only hold from the edge of the coin or just wear gloves. Oil from your fingerprints get onto the coin surfaces and once it does, it's there permanently, unless you soak it in Acetone right away.

Is that steel or aluminum diamond plate of a rubber mat? If it is one of the first 2, you should put a soft cloth down to avoid scratching the coins you are interested in.
We will need better images in order to help you out here. It is difficult to determine what is going on.
But you should not be seeing any zinc though. This coin is made from a mixture of different metals:
Content:88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, 2% nickel.
It could be a carbon spot on the coin.

Those coins are not plated from the mint.
