A guy that I work with just sold his silver coins for 10 times over face value. That his wife had collected for years at the bank she works for. He had a lot of Quarters,Halves&Dimes. He got $183. I had looked at these a year ago and told what not to sell for spot price (3 Peace dollars)he keep them. He did not need the money I cant believe he sold them without consulting me. His wife just sold a bunch of gold jewelry for $780.last week. Maybe a good time to sell gold but selling silver now I think was a stupid move at$13.40 OZ.

There are two ways to look at this. Either you can sell now and risk silver going back to $20 a ounce and be kicking yourself. OR, you can hold on to them and risk silver going back down to $4 a ounce and then kick yourself for not selling them. Personally I think precious metals are a fear investment and I dump them as soon as I get a price I'm pleased with.

Silver was $22 last year.

Not a good time to sell gold, and an even worse time to sell silver.

I wish I was in the printing press business. The fed is going to need them soon. Metals should have upside when debt gets monitized. nlp

I would love to see it hit 4.00 an ounce. Then I will still be buying it. Remember last October. Oz. was down to 8 something and bullion still sold at a premium. They just increased the premium to cover their loss. Don;t blame them. I would have too.

Some economist are prediction that we will be in hyper inflation in a few years from now like we were in the late 70's. When silver was at a all time high.

I think 10X face is a very fair value. My shop is offering 8X face to buy, and 12X face to sell. I remember when silver was low ($9) range and dealers were still charging 10.5X to 11X face. Shoot melt right now is $2.44 on a Quarter, and if anyone can find it at melt, I'd load up big time!! Just my opinion!

It's funny, when silver was in the high teens, I was able to pick up common silver coins at 10x face. Now that it's in the low teens, I'm still able to pick up common silver at 10x face. Spot really only matters to speculators and industrial-scale buyers.

And it was at $9 just 3 months ago. It also was around $5, or less, for several years in a row, not that long ago.

You can't predict the future based on some price that it was last year, or any other year for that matter.

If anyone could predict the market he would be easy to spot. He would have millionaires lined up outside his office door. Predicting the market is like trying to tell me what the weather will be like on May 25th, 2011 in Denver, CO. Sure you might have a vauge feeling that it will be warm, but can you tell me that it will be a high of 75? Or that it will be warmer then May 25th, 2010?

The one thing that has stayed at value through out all the world's empires, is silver and gold. So if silver goes down, I will buy.

I wish I could have sold my lot today for 10x face, but had to settle for 9x face. But, all the 40% halves I accumulated went for about 2.72x face and $2 in Canadian went for $20.

I got a line on 10 Peace dollars for $16 a piece. $3 over melt, so it's not a great price but not bad either...depends on their condition. Going to see them tomorrow or Friday.

I got lucky and sold some silver at a show last year which coincided with the peak silver price. Used the money to by a couple nice Walking Liberty halves. My luck seldom is that good so it was nice for a change.
