Because Inconsistent alloy mixtures and lamination issues were rampant in this series, split planchets are more common in Buffalo nickels than other series. It's the 'Thickness' on the coin. Nickels should have a thickness of 1.95 mm. Your coin would be around 1 mm thick if the coin split exactly at the center. Very nice coin!
