Hello everyone, I'm new and hopefully can get some opinions. I saw another post similar to my 1934 coin, but I'm also seeing something that I can't figure out.

My camera (and digital scope) also captured, what appears to be, lettering within the indent area.... very strange.

Indent is on obverse, weak strike on reverse in same area leads me to believe it's a rolling mills indent error. But, within the obverse indent over Lincoln's face, it appears to have the letters "IBE" and possibly "Go" on Lincoln's cheek (I'm thinking Liberty... in God We Trust... but it's very strange where it appears. Any ideas? It is very difficult to get a good picture of this, but here are a few... there is definitely lettering in the indent. Uploading a few pictures form my iphone and a few with the digital scope. Thanks so much for any help.

I'm thinking post-strike damage. Coin didn't exit the striking chamber in that condition.

Tex, this coin was bashed on the obverse hard enough to cause a bulge on the reverse.

to the CCF and The first thing to remember is that if you have a divot on one side, and a bulge on the other, it's 99% of the time damage. Someone probably put it back in circulation for a seed. It got you to wonder about it, so that's good for the hobby.
