Rainman1 Valued Member United States 54 Posts	Posted 07/11/2023 4:05 pm I know that some error events diminish strike quality, ie horizontal or vertical misalignment, and some can lead to a stronger strike appearance, ie struck thru. For an off center strike, its common to have distorted design elements along the edge of the planchet. My question is, does the center of the planchet typically receive a sharp, undistorted, strike? I'm just using my off center LMC as an example. Report this Post to the Staff

Dearborn Moderator United States 95018 Posts	Posted 07/11/2023 7:02 pm the design elements get distorted because they are near the edge of the die and the metal is stretching because there is no collar to contain it. the center has the least amount of movement and therefore is much sharper then the outside rim area.
