I'm not sure the original intent for this piece was to be a token. Some of them still have stick pins attached and when Crumpton advertised in 1896 it was for "buttons." When I checked Worthpoint the prices ranged from $13.15 for this one-

to $152.49 for this one

The stickpin pictured below is sold for $26.00

Also wanted to add that if you read the stickpin listing it says that J.A. Crumpton was a Confederate soldier. I don't believe that is accurate. The John A. Crumpton I think made these was born in Indiana c. 1850-2 and died in Denver in 1898. He had only been in Denver a little over a year and his burial took place in Lincoln, Nebraska. Per his obit (Lincoln Journal Star 10/22/1898) he was "bookkeeper in the Central National Bank and moved to Denver to be bookkeeper for the "Fraternal Union and Woodmen."

I've had this baby on ebay for 2 weeks now and no one has expressed interest in it. If someone here would like it cheap let me know. I know some of you could definitely appreciate it more than I can.

Thank you Hondo! It's such a cool piece. I'm not a collector so I'm glad you can appreciate it.
