I just found this letter postmarked 1939 Berlin Germany in an old world stamp album I won in an online auction a while back. I am very interested in what it says but it's typed in 1930's German which I do not speak. I was hoping one of y'all could give me the just of it in English. If anyone can, I'd be willing to send you a few world silver coins for your trouble if you like. **If this is in the wrong place, please feel free to move it to a more appropriate forum. Thanks!!!

A it's a letter of course you can see to Freddy's but it is talking about what is going on. Maybe somebody on here can direct you with the link to the stamp collection part and they could tell you more. Otherwise I noticed that you're from Texas maybe there is a German society there or social society there that can help you decipher the letter. If not you always have the colleges that you can go to or the museums. You'll be quite surprised how somebody will help you and it's a matter of the phone call and you can fax a copy of it over to them. I expect the stamps on the envelope you can always get somebody like I said from the stamp community and maybe someone could just put it directly up for you. Best of luck and hold on to the letter it may have something important I don't understand. No matter what it's a part of History I feel.

Alternatively, JDRMCB could transcribe the typing into a text file and then use Google Translate or some other such resource. That's what I would do.

If you Google Hitler's birthday you will see the grandstand that this person is speaking of. Above Hitler you'll see people standing of which this person is speaking about. Conti mother was a... well you'll read about it. Letter may be important along with the stamps. I would have some one from stamp community look at them. I was trying to check the stamps and please have somebody possible verify the letter is real. Good luck

JDRMCB, this is a very interesting item. It's typed on the back of an envelope of some sort. The bottom part seems disjointed at the flap. Is it still sealed? If so, have you held it to the light to see if there is anything inside?

@HondoBouguss...I'm a trained observer and I didn't even see that. I guess I was tied lol. Good looking out indeed. I'd steam that puppy open or hold to a light lolo

Held it up to a light and I don't see anything. I bet it wasn't uncommon to write on the back of envelopes during that time being that they had just transitioned from the Weimar Republic to the Third Reich and you don't overcome that type of hyperinflation overnight so I bet you use what you have.

Very historical letter! Too bad it is not signed. Conti was a hateful dyed in the wool Nazi. He is given almost one full page in the book : Who's Who In Nazi Germany by Robert Wistrich. He hanged himself in his Nuremberg jail cell Oct. 6, 1945.
