20 Drachma Coins From The 1870's - Rarity?

It seems there are not many around - and that it's worth a little more than comparable european coins. Am I right? and if so,why is that? blueyman New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 07/17/2023 5:17 pm There are no sold listings on ebay - and ony 1 for that type of coin - an 1884 version. It descibes it as 'scarce'. I'm trying to figure out why. I don't think there was a low mintage - perhaps there was an event that caused everyone to melt them down? Trying to post pictures now... Report this Post to the Staff

erafjel Pillar of the Community Sweden 2124 Posts	Posted 07/17/2023 6:01 pm The Greek 20 drachma coins from this time are more scarce than other corresponding European gold coins. This particular type was minted only 1876 and had a mintage of just 37,000. The next issue was in 1884 and only that year. France, Belgium, Austria etc minted continually and with larger mintages.
