Found a quarter that looked thicker than others 1972 P mint mark. Weight is in the range at 5.7 grams.

One is circulated, the other has square, relatively fresh edges. Moreover, the edge thickness depends a lot on the strike and the freshness of the dies. If the weight is within range, it's just a normal quarter.

Need to confirm, either way, with accurate weight measurement.

This is why I recommend a scale that goes down to 0.001 not 0.01 but I always get flack for saying that. The better scale does not even cost all that much more either. I guess I just don't understand

John1; There is nothing wrong about your thought process. This coin is a good example that if someone wants to know why it is thicker and " fresh" then the .001 theory would help answer that. Most people just want to know the condition, value and a basic reason why it is the way it is. To me both views are okay. Just depends on the level of collecting you want to be at.
