1. The Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans still exists and hosts an annual Columbus Day parade in Chicago. You might consider contacting them with your questions.
2. Is the medal aluminum? A very lightweight material? I wonder if it was thrown from a parade float similar to what is done with doubloon tokens during Mardi Gras in New Orleans?
3. Frank Annunzio, the Honorary Parade Chairman listed on the medal, was the US Congressman/Representative behind the 1992 Christopher Columbus Quincentenary Commemorative Coin Program of 1992. He was a proud supporter of Columbus, in particular, and Italian-Americans, in general.

I did search ebay, did an image search on google, and even tried to call the Joint Civic Committee and left voicemails and no reply. I can't find anything like this coin anywhere. How can I determine what it is made of? I took it to a "coin collector" to see if it was worth anything and he said he would buy it for $20.00. I told him no thanks and he has called me a few times since then, so it kind of makes me wonder if there is any value to this.
