wasn't there a 1944 steel cent found back in the 70's or 80's that was real.

Yep, there are a few 1944 steel cents out there...  Very rare.

I search the net and one was graded by pcgs back in 2000 and heritage sold a 1944-d steel cent back in 2007 I am going to search some more maybe he does have one.

Sure...I'd bet my last bag of donuts, AND a cooked goose, that the 1945 coin is plated. Not a steel cent.

There are some nice pictures of some on Heritage (ha.com)...a couple have gone for over $30K. One of those would be an amazing thing to find in the wild.

arizzle420, Does it look similar to this one...  While the scan doesn't do it justice-this coin is shiny like chrome! Only now it is beginning to flake off the edges...revealing the plating.

its starting to tarnish, there isn't any flaking just on t he side it looks a silver gold color, id take a pic but my camera cant see it!
