Has anyone ever seen this type of error and is there any value to it? I have only seen one other online but not as cool as this one. Front side is shaven down around the lip and the reverse is almost completely gone except for the center that is almost a perfect circle.

to the CCF!

This coin is showing Post Mint Damage or PMD, it's not an error. The marks on your coin couldn't have happened during the minting process.

While it's impossible to tell what happened or why, it looks like it was scratched up and flattened intentionally. Check out https://www.error-ref.com for some great information on different types of errors and how to spot them.

Yes, Sorry, This is not an error from the mint, somebody just took a grinder to it and removed the metal. This is NOT 2x2 worthy in my books - just a spender.

What would happen to a coin if you used sand paper or file to it? It would look just like this.
