There needs to be "iron clad" laws against this kind of stuff being put up for sale.Just my opinion.

I guess a few people misunderstand how dates were added to Lincoln Cent dies--ie, they were hubbed with the rest of the design.
And, a true die variety doesn't magically appear like a ghost...on just one coin. If it was present when the die was made, it will be on the whole die run, or at least until it wears off the die. In the case of 1959 cents, that one die would represent many coins.

Here, it's simple damage--and worth all of one cent. I'm also a little bothered people talk up this junk on ebay, but ultimately it's educational.

--and a bit funny too.

If I could have been offer #5, I would have gone as high as 7 or 8 cents.. I wonder what the buy it now fee on 80K is.
If you notice his site, he has a lot of "rarest" items. Quite the astute collector--or optimist.
Rest in Peace

Dang. NOW you tell us about this rare opportunity. I was going with the buy-it-now option, too!

I guess I'll have to wait for a penny-with--in-it to show up now. I'm good as long as the bids don't go over $100,000 ...

Or until the pressman notices it which could be immediately in which case very few to zero would get out.

Exactly--hence my inclusion of "die run". But of course, we both know this mark wasn't present on the die.

wow, I have about 10,000 pennies on hand and all have marks that make them the rarest. I could sell those for 80,000 a piece along with my soul....

It might be a good idea to check other things he's sold, as an indicator.
