Ondiwave, that grime has been on your token for 150 years - I don't think that it will suddenly start destroying it like acid on a zincoln. But an acetone soak will certainly not hurt - and will help to take off some of the grime.

It needs a bath. Acetone works well, not the nail polish stuff, but the kind the hardware store sells. "Coin Care" is a commercial product that works well, too. IMHO. conservation of pieces like this sutler token is a worthwhile endeavor. If not neutralized, that verdigris will otherwise eat into the underlying surface. Swab gently and pat dry afterwards. Then, repeat until the Q-tip is clean.
Ondiwave, I finally got around to checking out your other tokens. Somewhat common, and not nearly as desirable as your sutler one, but still nice pieces from history. Oliver Boutwell: Rulau CWT 890B-1b - rarity R1 Harlev & Johnson: Rulau CWT 150AC-1a - rarity R2

@hondo yes thats what I found as well! Thank you!!!!
So what would you think the value of this sutler would be, if I didn't send it for grading vs if I did? Do to some unexpected events it looks like I'm going to have to consider selling it and a few other coins.. wicked bummer I know.
Ondi, you saw what the PCGS AU 50 one sold for in the Heritage auction. A perusal of ebay completed listing unslabbed ones go for $400+. You really should send it in for grading and conservation. You'll get that money back when you sell it. Also, you may consider sending it to Heritage or Great Collections for auction if you can wait a few months for payment.

@hondo ok that makes sense. I'll look into having it graded. Thank you again for all of your advice.
Last question. do u think PCGS or ncg is a better choice. I think I'm going to sell a few other coins and send this out and go from there. I'd really like to hold on to it. Wish me luck
