This is another Chinese coin that I inherited. Just like the Fat Man dollar I posted, I wasn't 100% sure of authenticity, but I wanted to preserve it, so I sent it in to NGC. Obviously, it has some issues. Any guesses on the results?

This one appears to be authentic, Zurie (at least to my untrained eyes).

@Hondo, you are correct, this turned out to be authentic. As I said, I wanted it encapsulated, but it looked pretty ugly and possibly a details coin even after an acetone soak, so I sent it for conservation at NCS before the grading. First time I tried NCS for conservation, and I was really happy with the result, especially since it got a straight grade. I wonder if they are more lenient on coins they conserve, since people might complain that they should decline conservation if it's going to detail anyway.

Fantastic, Zurie - congratulations!
As for the conservation, I can see that they removed the dark spots from the interior of the reverse and lightened many on the obverse. With coin in hand, how much did they improve the appearance?
Auction prices for these are all over the place. Yours should place in the upper tier for AU coins.
