A few weeks ago I bought 2500+ pre-1960 and 5000+ post-1960 lincoln cents from a dealer friend of mine. All the key and semi-key dates were pulled from it but it hadn't been checked for errors or varieties. So I bought them for a discount.
I've spent the last few weeks searching and sorting in my spare time and so far this is what I have:
-A set of Philadelphia Mint cents missing 1909, 1912, 1913, 1922, 1932, 1933, 1943.
-A set of Denver Mint cents missing all pre-1928, 1929, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1943,
-About 100 or so nice bright red cents from the '20's, 30's and 40's.
-Lots of beautiful toned cents (early ones in red tones, later ones in rainbow tones).
-About 50 with lamination errors (mostly early dates).
-So far I've found four rpm's (I've just started looking for them). I've posted a few questionalble rpm's in the errors section.
-Lots of
Machine Doubling (keeping them for reference).
Several 60's and 70's in BU condition.
Right now they're all sorted out into decades and mint marks to make checking them easier. It's been a lot of work but really fascinating.
I'm thinking of selling or trading off my duplicates in the near future or even putting together a few for prizes in a contest. Watch for it
