Just found this quarter today after watching couchcollectibles showing the same error. Looks like a copper wire but could also be a fragment. What do you think? Thanks for any info

Interesting.

I don't think it's a strike through, but possibly a flaw in the clad layer. At first I thought it was the copper core showing through the nickel layer, but now I wonder if a copper fragment was rolled into the sheet when it was processed. The slightly wider area of copper above the ES looks almost like a fragment that the rolling process could have smeared the copper across the surface of the nickel layer.

Nice error! I haven't seen one like this before.
