All right, inspired by GLB49's amazing Random Silver Coins thread, I thought I would try to do something similar with the various gold coins I have picked up over the years. Needless to say (although I'll say it anyway), I don't have nearly as many gold coins as GLB49 has silver coins, but hopefully I have enough to make things interesting, including classic U.S. gold coins, modern U.S. gold bullion coins, modern U.S. gold commemorative coins and even a few foreign gold bullion coins. I'll start off (quite literally) small: 1853 Liberty Head Gold Dollar (Type I)

Beautiful examples! To this day I still have no gold. Maybe one day.

Quote: To this day I still have no gold. Maybe one day. Well, the longer you wait, the more expensive it gets... OK, so that's not always true. I bought most of my classic U.S. Gold back when gold was at $1700/oz and trending higher, thinking I'd better buy it before it got any more expensive. Soon after that, however, the price of gold cratered down to around $1200/oz and stayed in the $1200-1400 range for 4 years until it finally started going back up. So, who knows?

Ah, I sometimes forget that there is more to "Dansco" than just the 7070 album.
