I found this quarter among with the last 1979 quarter I post before, but I don't know what is going on here, it seems a little different on the look but at the same time seems to have the same thing happened (maybe Retained Cud?) Don't know, I will wait for your thoughts.. Thanks!!

This is not an error, but rather a 'Die-event'
This is a pre-cud.
I just explained this in another topic, please go have a look and see what I posted there (includes images too)

John has a good point, Look "flaky" or fish skin. Some period years the coins look as this after time. In my Lab and also others study confirm that we has a bigger % of carbon. Is believe that the NI-Cu clad roll, in fact the Ni was from Steel or Iron Nickel recuperation and for one reason or other was no purified at 99%.

In this case of my Lab I find 0.85 iron which contain carbon. Been carbon present the rolling and striking normally must be perform on heat metal, which it is not case for coins.

What happened? is believe that during the strike the carbon broke and with the environments and age will give this texture of the metal.

Another explanation which stand for this theorem it is that those years the Dies frequently was re-polish and scratches during re=polishing. Here we have an good example.

I do not think future studies must be done because was minor.

@John1 is right, thats why I wrote in my post that the coin look different and at the same time the same thing as my 1979, its look flake, but its coming from the rim, look at this pic, its comes from the upper left side of the rim

Thank you @Silvio for that explanation!
