Thank you for coming back with photos. It is appreciated.

I believe Dryer Coin is a possibility. It may have also seen extended use in a vending environment.

To CCF! It might be an early Dryer Coin as stated. PMD.

The smooth sides ate like new
No wear
It's clear the reeds were never there.

@Smith76 its not a error, I enlarged the photos on my phone and it seems the coin was damage by someone. I found few coins like yours and I can tell someone do that.

to the CCF. With this coin only being 2 years old, I'm going to say it's a spooned coin rather than a Dryer Coin. A Dryer Coin with this much damage on the edge, would have more damage to both obverse and reverse. Someone has taken a spoon or some other implement to the edge.

Not if in the fin of a commercial dryer. There only the edge gets banged around because there is no room for the coin to flip.

Smith76, what is the diameter of your quarter? If you don't have calipers, how about a pic of it with a normal quarter?

to the CCF!

It looks like a Dryer Coin to me also. The reeded edge has been smoothed by tumbling around in the interworking of a dryer or something similar. The centers also show damage from circular impact contact. You can use a tool that's meant to reduce copper fitting and pipes and do the same to the reeds in just a few seconds. While it could also have been spooned, the edge seems much to square for that.

If you do a web search for Dryer Coin, you'll find lots of images and information on coins with this kind of damage.

I'm on board with a Dryer Coin assessment.
