Hi, Iv acquired a gorham Co scientific American medal, other then 1 newspaper article from 1908 iv not been able to find much information on it if anybody has any it would be much appreciated, regards

Looks like it could be gold. Check the edge for any metal content stamp.

Here's a 1913 newspaper article about it. It does say that the original medal was issued in gold.

Gorham struck contemporary medals in 14/22/24kt gold, gilt bronze, silver, and bronze. XRF would be fairly conclusive, I should think.
