I've studied this for hours, decided to post it and let in some good experienced opinions! I think this is the Type II (flat S on top) mintmark for the SBA proof. I included an S mintmark from a regular 1980S for comparison. Sure would like to hear what others have to say on this one. Thanks. Kevin
I would say type 1 also. Another pickup point is the first three stars to the left of the date. First star normal, second star slightly smaller, third star small with a long point. Unless the picture is fooling me, your coin appears to have this feature.
Greatly appreciate all the help! Until I saw the example in the CherryPickers Guide, I thought the difference was the "clear S" versus "filled S" explanation, even though the SBA coin facts says that is not always the case. I had never heard them differentiated by a "flat S" versus "rounded S", such as the Cherrypicker Guide example. Thanks for the input!
