Hello ,this1906 S Liberty Head $20 gold dollar coin had been offered to me by a gold dealer. It has a rather different design of the reverse of the coin. The mint mark - S , the moto, stars, scrolls on either side are larger in comparison of other 1906 examples. One of the stars is between the letters E and W instead of over the letter E as it should be. The weight of the coin is 33,42 g and the diameter 33 mm. Could the coin be a gold counterfeit or fake made around the date of production? I didn't purchase it because it also has a very suspicious proof -like look. Can someone please say why is the design so different from other 1906 coins?

Definitely fake. Maybe the reverse design looks bigger because the diameter is supposed to be 34mm, not 33. Perhaps it was faked purely to make the jewelry piece - seems like that was common.

Thank you all for your help . Now I can be certain that it is a fake coin ,and it doesn't worth much.
