2023p quarter with chip on nose and on reverse chip on the third and fourth fingertips chip, on nose chip by shadow line will try for better pictures

It seems like we're seeing more die chips on quarters than in the past. I know that part of the cause is the intricate designs with tiny little areas on the die that are prone to breaking, cracking and chipping, but I have to wonder it something has changed in the metal used in the dies or maybe something in the hardening process used on them after they're engraved.

As Yoko stated there are more chips on these "new" quarters. I think it's a combination of a few things. Most of them have more devises than the old quarters. With both incused and raised devices, it must put enough of a load on the dies that they break.
