I just started going through a bunch of wheat pennies from my moms estate. There is one that I am sure is a post mint damage, but I wanted to verify with you smart folks. It also appears to have a slight (less than 15 degree) die rotation. I appreciate your feedback.

No need to cower. We usually don't go for the kill until the weekend.

As you guessed, this is Post Strike Damage. Someone clamped down on the coin with something and damaged it. The images do show some rotation, but not a lot. Collectors usually like to see greater than 15° of rotation before paying a premium, with 90° to 180° commanding the best prices. If the coin wasn't damaged the rotation might have attracted a buyer, but with the damage it's not really worth anything over the value of the copper.

Nice old coin, cost of ownership is low so keep it. A good one for conversation piece.

Generally speaking, no one here will be harsh if you're showing good faith interest in learning. The only time people might get annoyed is if you're told repeatedly that the coin isn't an error and you get indignant and start lecturing everyone about how you know what you have and how a made up coin shop offered $80 for this coin just yesterday!

I just joined the community recently and can confirm this is the friendliest and knowledgable group on any online coin forum. Many other sites will scold "stupid" questions and sometimes wont even dignify it with an answer, only insults. I havnt seen such behavior here.
