Has anyone ever seen anything like this, I think I actually found it in circulation as I never remember buying it, I had it for a few years now.

Plated coins are also very common. First plated coin with counter stamping I've seen though. I have yet to find any of these, must have something to do with living in the Bible Belt. Thou shalt not deface U.S. coinage or suffer the penalty of being slapped with a sin.

Yep, there were alot of these floating around from the Bicentennial. Also, 50 coin sets were assembled with a stamp of a state outline on each coin. All of these alterations were done outside of the Mint so they are technically considered damage but they are collectible just like advertising counterstamps on Large Cents from the 19th century.
Rest in Peace

I've yet to see one with a "USA" stamp on it, but I have pulled several plated coins out of bags of foreign coins, both foreign and USA. Some looked as if they had been made into medallions, as they also had solder points over the heads on the coins as if a ring had been soldered on and then broken off. Also common are the holed coins that obviously dangled around someone's neck. I'd like to put something around the necks of the clowns who holed them!
