I've always just assumed it was a die crack because it seems to originate on the corners of the memorial and travels horizontally, usually through or near the feature line on the device, either across the memorial or to the rims. It appears to me the corners of the memorial may be some sort of stress point during the striking process. Report this Post to the Staff
