Here is a 2013 D nickel. I am thinking it is PMD but went to weigh it and it comes in at 4.69. I believe that is well outside of tolerance. I am having trouble finding anything on this though so it makes me lean more to the PMD side but that weight bothers me. Any help is appreciated.

Definitely PMD. Might be a Dryer Coin.

My first thought was 'Casino Coin,' but the loss of weight puts me in the acid camp as well.

There are lots of corrosive substances that will eat away at a coin, including cleaning products and even fountain water.

I'm a new member but I'm trying to reply to Mrichter830 about the 2013 D nickel error posted. I have the exact same nickel with the exact same error.

It's simply damage of some kind - I agree an acid bath could cause this but however it happened the coin did not leave the mint in this condition.
