How did you know it was just glue? I just used a wooden toothpick to test it and the glue popped right off in one giant piece. The glue dried in the shape of the design, and with being so close to the surface of the coin, it tricked my eye into thinking it was plating. Wow thanks for the opinion on that. I'm primarily shocked that you picked up on that so easily.

I've been fooled by glue a couple of times. It's something you'll find if you handle enough coins. We also see post where two coins were glued together and the glue has the design of the second coin. Some of them REALLY look like an error.

Keep looking and post questions when you need help!

Wow and wow. Thanks everyone. I can't believe how much I've learned from the comments on this monstrosity of a coin. Now I'm glad that I made the mistake of thinking it was a keeper and posting it. Thanks again. I can clearly see the memorial in the glue impression. Amazing what I don't see when I'm not looking specifically for it.
