Is it possible that there are 90% silver 1968 Kennedy half dollars as well as a 1972 Kennedy half dollar accidentally struck on silver? Pictured first is a 1968 kennedy which should be 40% silver and a 1964 Kennedy that is 90% silver. they appear to have the same rim compared to the second pic of 2 1968 Kennedys and and 1967 Kennedy with 40% silver. Third pic is 1967, and all 3 1968's photographed together for comparison. Last pics are of a 1972 Kennedy that I'm almost positive has silver components.

with John1 about weight; the 90%ers should weigh 12.5g, and the clad silver 40%ers should weigh 11.5g.

It is very possible that a 90%er ended up in a 40%er bin at the mint and simply did not get noticed by mint personnel but are exceedingly rare transitional errors, but not unheard of.

A current clad Kennedy (1971+) should be about 11.34g. If that '72 has a mass around 11.5g, that would be a pretty cool (but not unheard of) transitional error. Strike It Rich with Pocket Change lists several Kennedy half dollars on the wrong planchets.

@ Errers and Varietys:

Why do not argue your statement? Show me one example of what you say it is Silver Clad.

Silviosi, I was wrong. The 1968 D Kennedy was made with 40% Silver and 60% Copper, while the 1972 D Kennedy was made with 91.67 Copper and 8.33% Nickel. I did research and realized I was wrong. I'll try to do better in the future.

@ Errers and Varietys: Do not be sorry for this minor mistake. All we do mistakes, indifferent of our degree of knowledge. I do, you do, Mike do' it also. The only thing with this it is because in the last time more and more users come put something and pic an answer they like and go to e-bay and put crazy prices. So for me you confound the years strikes of the Kennedy halves is nothing.

So I am sorry I push you to explain me what you thinking. Was only this. And sorry, many times I am very direct. What you want I am who I am and other my mammy will not make.
