Presidential Art Medals, Inc, of Englewood, Ohio, marketed a 50 medal set of "Statehood Art Medals", bas-relief medals produced by Medallic Art Co, in the 60's and 70's. Whitman offered a two volume album for storing these 1.5 inch bronze medallions which feature a famous figure from the state on the obverse and state seal on the reverse. Whitman organized the albums' "holes" in the order of admittance to the Union, printing the name and date below each . Ralph J. Menconi was the sculptor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_J._MenconiDelaware, December 7, 1787. T. Coleman DuPont https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T._Coleman_du_Pont Pennsylvania, December 12, 1787. William Penn New Jersey, December 18, 1787. Thomas A. Edison More to come (as time permits). . .apologies in advance for lighting inconsistencies. I've added a Wikipedia Link to some of the lesser / regionally known figures. Edited by cptbilly 08/30/2023 8:51 pm

I'm definitely interested to see the whole series as you post them. This is a great idea for a thread!

Great looking examples in this quartet! I do like the SC medal. I have called this state home for the last 38 years.

@commems: Thank you. This series, much like the HOF of Great Americans series, is attractive for its blend of artistry and history. I've found commemorative coins and medals to be the most interesting numismatic segment during my re-introduction to the hobby. Though it sometimes takes some digging, I've found the CCF to be a great broad spectrum resource for all of the nooks and crannies that come with tracking down a particular coin or medal. My location is a bit of a wasteland as far as LCS's go, so using the CCF as a "reference library" before making some of my buying decisions has been invaluable.
Glad to share the photos with everyone on this forum. It's a fun pursuit.
