I hope I'm in the right place here. I have an 1880 s mint Morgan dollar that has some clear doubling on the year but what I'm really curious about is theres a significant flat spot on the edge above the "bus". Is this some sort of error or from circulation? I have no clue what the coin is worth or its grade I will include pics to the best of my ability to show the mark

Justadude, it looks like a rim ding - the coin was dropped on a hard surface.

Damage to the rim. Looks like damage to the date also.

That is one whale of a rim ding! Maybe someone threw it hard at an anvil, or dropped it from a height.
