Hi Folks,

I was going through some Wheat Cents, and I found this very odd raised silhouette on the reverse of this coin, and I was trying to figure out if it was done twice, or it was fed through as a planchet for a different coin or denomination. Please forgive me if I am not describing it correctly, but the images should give you an idea.

Can anyone tell from the images?

Thanks so much.

Regards

wow, this is a strange one. The 'ghosting on the reverse is caused by repetitive striking of coins, and the obverse design slowly transfers to the reverse die. (I forget what it is called though)
but the obverse is al kinds of messed up. not sure what to say on that.

Looks like it has been burned, cleaned, hit with a hammer or whatever. Just an old damaged coin now.

Indirect die transfer.
But I think CoinSeeker2017s' coin is PMD.
