Howdy folks! I hope you're all having a good Labor Day!

I found this and am wondering if the value added from the doubling would make it worth while to get graded and still make a few bucks? If not I'll just keep it! You can see it in the pic in wording and it also goes up left wing neck and back of head. In hand it's an absolutely beautiful quarter and with naked eye none of the scratches are visible but enlarged pic looks rough probably without joking it's low 60s.

Thanks

Hmm not positive you have a DDR there. Here is a link to the two known ones so that you can compare pics:

Not seeing either of the two known doubled dies. Can you elaborate on where you see doubling?

Hey Spence- that link went nowhere for me. The one other pic of DDR I saw was where the arrows and vine leaf is doubled. Mine probably just worn die or double struck? Idk.

The doubling starts little bit at end of "states" then in the "of America " you can see it for sure. Can you blow up the pic I posted? I'll try to take another from a different angle in a few

MD. If it was "double struck" you'd have something.

This coin it is an type D quarter or RDV-004 as VV. your Reverse has a strike trough an tilted Die on USA which mean MD. For arrows and the leaves what you see it is an hub Doubling which it is characteristic for all coins strike in Phil in 1965 and 1966 with 1965 year coin.

Yeah no kidding! Lol but thank you Silviosi!

I thought double struck (a coin struck multiple times for whatever non intentional reason) was the same as Mechanical Doubling (where it's imprinted more than once for whatever reason)?

Interesting and that you Silviosi.

So there is master die doubling to those areas on the reverse of all quarters with The RDV-004 (Reverse Design Variety).
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

Peter, only on the Phil. Someone told me find on Denver, but never see.

Manny of the quarters has Hub Doubling. Why? it is an mystery. Example: many years has characteristic for the variety Doubling only on the Q of quarter word. Your observation it is my tough also. The Master Die produce this. the best are 1974, 75 which all has Hub doubling on the bottom of the wings left and right side upper of the arrows. some only left, some the both sides or only the right side.

Quarters till 1999 have many varieties for the same year and amazing only one transitional in 1964 and 1965. To explain: 1964 strike on clad and 1965 strike on Silver. Fascinating.

Yes a double struck is struck more than once. All double struck coins are very rare and worth a good premium. Machine Doubling is very common and usually not worth a premium Some people collect MD, but for the most part it's just damage to the majority of collectors. MD has many causes, Press not adjusted right is probably the biggest. I call it machine damage, because the coin is damaged and not a true doubled die.
