BUT...should I try to open the capsule for a better look? If yes, how to safely do this, Also do I risk devaluing either coin? No pics yet. jbuck Moderator United States 187702 Posts	Posted 09/08/2023 10:11 am I doubt the capsules would be able to hide anything bad from you. For me, there are only two reasons to open them... One is to move the coins to another holder, capsule, album, etc. The other is to confirm if suspected "damage" (or debris) is on the capsule or the coin. If you see no defects through the capsules, the coins are surely okay. Even when I send coins to PCGS, they want the coins to be placed into a 2x2 flip with an item label - but I refuse to risk even that and get it scratched but I send it in the cap and let them open it.
