I thought this for FS-107 but getting it back from PCGS as fs-113. I'm not sure they they got it correct though? The mint mark location seems closer to fs-107, plus the die scratch between the "US" looks the same as the one on coppercoins stated as the die marker. I didn't see circular scratches on the memorial bays and roof for the 113 as shown/stated on Coppercoins.
Is this the correct attribution they put it under, or is this another screw up from PCGS?
They did use my coin for their front page on the fs-113 though.

I think it's FS-107. Nice DDO!

You are correct Dearborn. 107 is the TDO. I see what looks like trippling better on the "U" in trust, in the first picture with the "u visible. This was a hard one to get the right lighting for doubling or tripling.
Also the "N" in "IN"

Wonderful photos. Such a subtle variety! The great condition of the coin really helps identification.

Looks like one of the many minor dies for that year. Clearly mint mark is wrong for FS-113 so that's not possible. I see no evidence of tripling, which should be readily visible between the L of LIBERTY and IN GOD. Look at the tops of the U in TRUST and the center split of the W in WE to try and sort out which way yours is doubled in comparison to the ones on Variety Vista. Then check mint mark position. My first thought would be DDO-006.

Tropical. That one looks very similar, but still a little off. I could be wrong though

The 1970-S minor dies are pretty tough to tell apart with just small differences and things look a little different as the die ages. I think I have a couple I never did figure out for sure.

VV-006 looks very similar to Double eddie- 030. Wexler has markers on that one.

Yes you are right. 049 is also similar to VV-006. Looks like most markers are in that first bay on the reverse. I will have the coin in hand tomorrow. I will take a look again for other markers.

Yeah, plus WDDO-042 and WDDO-049 look about the same as well. Unless you have one in the same die stage with the same markers it gets really tough to tell them apart. Not as bad as some of the DDR's from the 1960's, but still tough.

kurdlezuit,
Very nice close ups. Maybe you could tell members who have trouble with taking pics what and how you take such great close ups

Haha John1. I have a couple times on other people's threads. Those come and go. I think we should just start a thread that is only on picture techniques. And everyone can post successful picture techniques with all methods. I use a digital microscope I've altered for defusing light, others have great techniques for using cell phones and some use a regular camera that works well.
I'd be willing to give some tips in a thread like that with the methods I use.
We would just have to keep bumping the thread to the top, and hope others read it.
