The R-6 Sheldon level (13 to 30 known) is called Very Rare, R-5 is listed as Rare and is 31 to 75 known.

The St. Julien article I linked calls R-5 Very Scarce, R-6 Rare and R-7 Very Rare but I'm not quibbling. Three years ago I picked up the 1867-1873 s half eagles raw one at a time, at reasonable prices. Right now they're all still R-4's but prices are up substantially and they don't show up raw nearly as often. I expect that their populations will increase with time, just like Charlotte and Dahlonega did. The more people become interested in them, the more coins will surface.
