Good article. Minor correction - the image is wrong for the 1891 pattern dime. You can see it here https://www.si.edu/object/10-cents-...nmah_1100102
It used the Liberty Seated reverse. One interesting thing about the pattern obverse is that the strong ear cartilage and pointy laurel leaf extending almost to the S were not on the original circulation obverse, but these features reappeared with the second obverse type introduced in 1901. To me it seems like Barber really wanted to be true to the original design, but didn't get around to tweaking it for 9 years.
