This silver coin was authorized by Public Law 103-186 and signed by President Bill Clinton on December 14,1993. The issue celebrates the 250th anniversary of Jefferson's birth (1743) although it was issued in 1994 due to the late signing of the public law.

The reverse has a flaw near "AMER" which may be a crack in the capsule. I'm a little concerned about it because I don't see a reflection of the crack in the field. However, if I maneuver the coin so the light plays on it from different angles, the crack seems to have some depth to it. So I'm leaning towards a capsule crack.

Designer: James Farrel (Obv and Rev)

Mintage: proof 332,891, UNC 266,927

There is also a matte proof finish 1994-P Jefferson nickel and a $2 Federal Reserve Note. The nickel is the one listed in the 2018 Guide Book (not listed at all in the 2024 Handbook) as frosted, special and uncirculated with a mintage of 167,703. A MS63 is worth about $50, MS 65 about $100. Not bad for a 5 cent piece.

The $2 note is perhaps the one issued in 1995 with serial numbers "F 000 00001 A" thru "F 576 00000 B" (Ref. https://www.USPaperMoney.info).

@mike31093: Nice coin! The portrait of Jefferson was a surprise to many people. Folks were used to the very different portrait of Jefferson on the five-cent coin.

Regarding the "flaw" - to my eyes, it looks like a capsule crack.

very nice coin, and yes, it appears to be a crack in the cap. You may want to look into replacing it to keep air and moisture from getting inside it and reaching th ecoin.

You don't often see Jeffersons portrait without the ponytail.
