If you are lucky it is struck on a dime. Nice find if so. Worth $400 or $500. If so it will be magnetic and will have the weight of a dime.

The other likely possibility is a plated coin. If plated it will have the weight of a cent or more and will likely look a little lumpy or ripply.

The third possibility is that it is struck on a planchet of a foreign country that had coins made in Ottawa.

The weight and whether it is magnetic will tell a lot. Also, please put up a picture. Many plated coins are obvious from photos.
