I say AU-something.

You have been here long enough that it's time to stop saying ' no mint mark' when you should know by now the coin was minted in Philadelphia.
Take a look at my other hobby ... https://www.jk-dk.art

Technically you are both right. It is a no mint mark, and it was minted at the Philly mint, but I for one prefer members write 1939-P.

AU-53, reverse of 38, avoid touching the obverse and reverse of any potentially valuable coin otherwise you leave damaging fingerprints

I agree and disagree because there was some coins that were printed out in Denver that were missing the mint mark so you can't say every coin that does not have a mint mark it was from Philadelphia so I've been here long enough yes but I also know that no mint mark is not just for Philadelphia in some situations

Not bad--XF45+. And yes, that's a Philly-minted nickel.
