1861 Seated Liberty Half-Dime Error?

I suggest using Earle42's method. Also what about the letters I see between what you see as gashes.i see an A and s G...and there seems to be a silhouette or shadow of what looks a star on a coin above the 18 and next to it the same with what looks like part of a hexagon... Based on what we do see, it looks like a very well worn dime with post mint damage and/or graffiti. And I do see that A and the X you are referring to, but that doesn't mean it is anything special.
