@rru, first welcome to CCF. Second, can you please supply a weight and diameter for this piece? Also, it could be useful to know if a magnet is attracted to it. Thx.

Club over the shoulder, a depiction of a young Hercules. Is is a medal, and the legend is in latin script. Cannot say anything about the age, not with those pictures. Very small for a medal.

It is very similar to this example posted on the forum back in 2010. "HERCULE" is the French spelling of "Hercules", so I would assume they were made in France or some other French-speaking territory. The other example is holed, for wearing as a charm or pendant. The one in the OP is not holed, but the uniface design makes me assume it's a made-for-jewellery medal.

Found a third one posted on the forum, back in 2014: http://goccf.com/t/181562It was posted in the Ancients subforum, so it confused the folks there, because it's definitely not ancient. Given the number of these spotted here on the forum, and the fact that they're all different styles but same design, I can only assume there was some kind of fashion trend in France a hundred years ago or so, to wear Hercules pendants.

I searched the jewelry section on Worthpoint and came up with some different items using these type of pieces -
