Hi I open an 2003 nickel roll from comercial kind the Mint do in heat poly roll and this coin was pop-up to me.

I do the SDX on and fin only residue of Glycerine which it is the cooling and greasing the presses. Nothing others elements.

In the Midle we can see the Iron (monolithic) which is use in his form. An photos of this Iron after heat and roll provide:

I wait for any idea on how could come like this. I think was roll grease on blank and the Cu do no plat. Suggestions?

Maybe they plated over some type of impurities?

@ 1847bill: This I think, but not sure. IMHO was plated over an not well clean blank. So some roll grease remain on and in this case sure the Cu will not adere. It is first time I see this.
