Almost certainly real
But quite rough
Ruff ruff !
Looks like it either got fished out of the Thames or dropped into an acid bath
Aelius Verus as Caesar
Predeceased Hadrian opening the path for Antoninus
Antoninus made amends by adopting Lucius the orphaned son of Aelius who reigned as junior emperor along side Marcus

I've done some digging on the internet,I'm not sure but could it be a Roman Empire, Aelius (Caesar 136-138 AD), Æ Sestertius, it only cost me 10 pence (approx 13 us cents), I hope it is real as this would be my 2nd Roman coin ever.

Certainly more than you paid for it !
I didn't mean to belittle your coin but condition wise it is a bit of a 'dog' ! woof
All to often persons unfamiliar with ancients assume that something 2,000 years old must be of really great value
Unfortunately this can lead to mayhem
People will drop them in acid or attempt electrolysis which can ruin something of interest
This has the look of water damage though
Forty years ago I swore off buying silver coins and tried to stick to the confines of bronze and 'billon'
Back to the subject .
Value ? It's really more of a novelty than a true collectible ancient
If someone paid 20£ for it I think they paid too much
10£ ? Okay
It's really just a fun thing to own
Impress the kids !

Thank you FVRIVS RVFVS, for the valuation. It's just a cool coin to own and something that has a bit of history to it.
