Hello from marie123!

I am helping my Uncle go through his coin collection that he has had since the 70's. He has a whole bag of wheat pennies, Sacagawea $1 coins, Susan B. Anthony wide rim and FG, Eisenhower half and full dollar coins, Kennedy half dollars, etc. This is a whole new world for me! I bought the coin microscope, and have been doing as much research as I can, but there are still some errors that I don't even know what to look them up as. I appreciate any help you can provide us in advance!

marie123,
to CCF.
Make sure to use a memory card in your USB scope.
Post one full coin photo obverse and reverse as well as one or two close-ups where and when needed in the proper sections of the forum and we will help you.

if the collection is not already cataloged in a database of some sort (Excel can serve that purpose) do that as you organize the collection. The catalog is best done first (IMHO) before you worry about finding errors.

Separate the silver coins into a separate pile for later review. If you don't already have a coin book, get one now. These will contain some information on errors for specific coinage.

Good luck and know that the CCF is here for you.

Forgot to mention some image tips.

1. Crop the photo to only show the coin. We're not interested in your coffee mug.

2. Resize the cropped image to 800 pixels or smaller on the largest size.

3. Name your images to facilitate image searches. For example: 1945 D Jefferson nickel Die Crack Error on Reverse.jpg

4. Review your images before uploading to ensure they are as in focus as possible.

Hope this helps.
